My brother Joe -- who lives in Scotland --- was awarded an MBE in the New Year's Honours list by Her Maj. The gong could never do justice to Joe's lifetime commitment to empowering poor kids. But I am hugely proud of my brother and his life's work (which ain't done yet).
Joe's comment in the local newspaper article strikes me as fundamentally correct.
“We live in a very rich country. We spend millions on weapons of mass destruction, yet in every class one in three children will be living in poverty.
“All that me and my colleagues want to do is to try to chip away at that and do our best to change things.
